OEM Regina 525 ZRP 110 z44 ring Chain
vs
DID 525 VX 110 X-Ring Chain
vs
DID 525 ZVM 110 X-Ring Chain

At face value the OEM Regina chain has the latest tech Z44 ring seals which should put it head and shoulders above both the DID X ring chains I've listed here.

But is it the best for your bike?
Do you buy a chain just because it has the latest shape in rubber seals?

Here are some other comparisons which you may want to take into account when buying.

PRICE what do these chains cost APPROXIMATELY ? (open market not a bike dealer)

OEM Regina 525 ZRP 110 z44 ring Chain = £ 120.00
DID 525 VX 110 X-Ring Chain = £65.00
DID 525 ZVM 110 X-Ring Chain = £ 120.00

WEIGHT How heavy are they Kg per 100 links

OEM Regina 525 ZRP 110 z44 ring Chain = 2.05
DID 525 VX 110 X-Ring Chain = 1.84
DID 525 ZVM 110 X-Ring Chain = 2.11

TENSILE STRENGTH This isn't a wear factor however stronger is can be better ( N = Newtons)

OEM Regina 525 ZRP 110 z44 ring Chain = 41000
DID 525 VX 110 X-Ring Chain = 41000
DID 525 ZVM 110 X-Ring Chain = 46300
note: a good number of other chain makers boast Heavy Duty or Performance but only have 34000+ tensile ratings

Well it's something to think about when you are deciding on the gold sparkly one which matches your teeth... :)

I put a DID ZVM on my gen 2 , 3 yrs ago have done 8000 miles . bike has been ridden hard in mainly dry with some wet weather thrown in as well , and have
adjusted it twice .
it is regularly cleaned and re waxed with wd 40 chain wax .

and yes it is a gold sparkly one !!!!

cant complain at that , as far as im concerned its money well spent.:thumbup

If I have had to replace a chain which doesn't happen often I tend to go for an RK.

I had a bad experience with the did 525 vx, had to adjust it a fter every ride - it was crap. Dealer I bought it from advised against fitting it (gen 2 ) but I stupidly went with the importers advice. Fortunately the dealer was excellent and gave me a refund. Maybe I got a bad one.... who knows.
Interestingly, if you look at did main website, that chain is not recommended for bikes over 900CC

Look at the chain CC application here

I've got a Reynolds chain on and it isn't great, it's started needing adjusted after every run. Been on for 5-6k but been used through winters and Scottish summers, same weather only the rain is a bit warmer

Interesting! Maybe that is the latest spec for the latest bikes, hence higher bhp than the 128bhp at crank of a Gen1, etc.

Aprilia Performance sell/spec the DID VX as better than OEM and the DID ZVM as heavy duty ideal if bike is raced. I've had my new VX now for 3 months and done around 600 miles with no need to adjust for a while yet. So... here's hoping! :)

Blade used RK chains.
The 525G XW has 44482.22 newtons TENSILE STRENGTH... I can't fine any other figures and haven't looked for a price in this country of one to fit the Tuono.
