think i must have had a bang on the head

I have never been a fan of Harleys however after today I think I get it
called over to my mates garage today for a cuppa n a natter and parked outside was a nice shiny roadster 48 r that turned out to be his new toy
to cut a long story short the keys where thrown in my direction and I was told to take it for a bimble, I didn't know what to expect but when I thumbed the starter I was well impressed with the sound of the vance and hines short shots helped by the screaming eagle stage 1 kit and after finding the gear pedal set off for a 10 minute bimble that turned into 20 minutes
I must admit I was well impressed with engine and handling and after a couple of dodgy braking sessions they where ok too
I think I am converted but I would only ever own one as a second bike for lazy sunday cruising

Sportsters like the 48 are great fun. They have just enough grunt and handling to be fun.I love my 883R,but I'm not a fan of the bigger Harleys at all.
The only thing that spoils the 48 is the daft forward controls. It needs the mids like on the 883 Iron or 883R.

    Yep,great second bike.

those forward controls are a bit alien and I like the look of the 883 iron apart from the bars

I had the exact same experience a couple of years ago but was to ashamed to admit it, they are fun.
Not a race bike and will never be a replacement for one (in my case) but fun
There now I've said it and I feel better

Truth be told I almost bought an 883 a few years ago.. It was just way to small to fit on. I had a proper cruiser once, Triumph, and I hated the forward controls.
There, I've been outed... I hope you blasphemous fiends are happy

Mr B, I've had a few Sunday run outs with you now, and not one of them was a bimble !
The whole Harley thing seems to be a bit of a way of life too, so you can't commit half harted if ya gonna get one.
More to the point, what are you gonna clip your pony tail to, in order to get the image!

    Oh dear.

I had the opposite experience last year, often fancied one, then following a test ride it made my mind up to give my head a shake.

All those years of taking the piss Mr B and it's you who will end up with one, wot a FUD.

I had forward controls on my Dyna ...........................

I am no STARFISH so put the mid controls on and it rides a lot better

I also changed the handlebars to drag bars .

I enjoy riding it but will never be a TUONO

My way of thinking is .......................

change your bike as many times as you want BUT KEEP THE "T".
