    confusion rules !!

Hi chaps its been a while ,here is the story ,
while returning home from south at week end , all going fine accepting the excessive rain ,Penrith to Invernesss .
I stopped for fuel at Hamilton services , roll in to station feet down followed by side stand turn off engine and all indicators start to flash and dash showing ECU and unplugged picture , thinking to my self where the feck is the hazard button ? and how have i pushed it ? its been a long day by this time , it dawns on me my gen 2 tuono has no hazard button , so what going on ?. anyway i fuel up with much interest from other station users , Back on bike turn on ignition indicators stop and the usual taco needle and lights hit the tit and away she goes , out on road no power loss , taco not sure what its doing going up but not down and strangely right hand indicator stops playing, left hand indicator works fine , just to be clear when at service station all indicators working fine with ignition off , any way home was the goal and nothing short of my beloved tuono crapping out was going to stop me , after hamilton services one more fuel stop before home , same scenario ignition off all indicators flashing and the ECU unplugged image on the dash , fuel up ignition on and away we go taco has lost mark totally by now nearly round clock , everything else seams fine on dash that is temp / trip etc , indicator left hand only no right, fortunately all my junctions were left except the last right to home, perhaps to much unnecessary information there how ever there it is , is it simply water ingress fecking electronics up or has some one out there experienced this behavior from there tuono.
i am able to access the diagnostic on the dash and after putting in code 13432 i am able to get a p code 15 13 ,any help gratefully received,
    thanks Carl.

Having so much go wrong, I reckon it's v-likely water ingress, probably in dash unit.

May be worth taking it apart and seeing if/how wet it is inside.

bit of a bugger !! , my mode switch only seems to have full function when the clocks are damp !!!!! , when bone dry its a right game trying to get the mileage reading for the MOT , as this is usually its first outing of the year after slumbering in the garage all winter !!

I have to resort to spraying the clocks and bar switches with water .

I have spent a lot of time and research to find the cause with no avail , resigned my self to the fact that it is a dry ( pardon the pun ) joint .

and left it at that !!!!

Hilift, have you tried spraying your switches with WD40, or checking them for oxidisation on the contacts?

From my limited Gen1 experience, it's well known that the Emergency Kill Button gets a bit dodgy if it's not used regularly. Cause being, oxidisation builds up on the contacts, and using the switch regularly keeps it clean. So I'm wondering if similar issue arises for other switches as per your case...

    PS: Nice 'dry joint' pun!

Paul , done all that and sprayed with contact cleaner even replaced the bar switch unit . I had an aprilia dealer in king lynn look at it too . all turned up nowt .

ive even opened the clock case and checked that out . done all the usual insulation checks and continuity checks . bugger all !!!!

this probably explains why on the 2 occasions I looked at the bike before buying it .the bike had obviously just been washed and was still damp . there was me thinking the previous owner had a cleaning fetish lol !!

im not overly concerned any more tho .

oh yea I also had griff at ap performance take a peek at it whilst having the valve clearances checked , and he admitted it was a new one on him .

some where on here there is a thread as long as your arm ..

thanks for the input though . cheers

    Carl,

I wouldn't put WD into the clocks. As a thin oil it creeps and may get onto the inside of the displays.

But I would check for water ingress and related damage. And if so, dry it out and then search for the threads on how to seal the Gen2 clocks.
