    Front fork settings

    Hi there

I've been out for a few rides on my Gen 2 Tuono and everything seems in order apart from one thing.

When you hit a pothole my teeth fillings rattle. I'd like to take it back a couple of notches. What part do I adjust? Thanks for you help in advance.

N.B. I have made a note of all settings as they are at the moment.

hmm sounds like the experiences I had to start with on my previous bike a triumph speed trip !!!

you want a good fitting spanner (or some preload adjusters available on e bay !) on the silver piece protruding thru the big red nuts top of fork legs and wind out a few turns until 3 grooves are visible as far as I can remember this is standard setting , for a bit softer wind out so another groove is visible and see how you go .

all the suspension settings are in the owners handbook for both sachs and ohlins .

I believe there is a downloadable handbook on this site somewhere .

hope the above all makes sense as im doing from memory .

Undo yer preload a few turns at a time , it's the 17mm?hex top of forks, I had to let mine off when I fitted the Dunlop front from Pirrelli

Well after watching many YouTube clips on Preload, rebound and compression. The guys from Ohlins had the best video.
I think I have found a good base setting for me in leathers at just over 14 stone [that's 14 x 14 for pounds].
After setting preload rear @ 21mm thread above lock nut and front @ 4 x lines showing clear each leg.
Rear rebound @ 18 steps out from fully closed. Front rebound grub screws in top of forks @ 2 turns out.
Front compression @ 1.25 turns out.

As I said these are working for me at the moment you may have other ideas?

I'm a quick road rider not a track day guy. You may need to "tighten" these settings for the track.
