    How to core your cans

Since that turd depressed me over the Duc SS I just had to go a coring Do me a favour, as this site only allows 4 pictures per post its gonna take ages. So please don't post till I've done. You can't even have a smiley as that counts as a picture. Pretty shit really.

This is for the older style without the cone on the end. Its not clever and has been done to death on other forums, but a couple of you asked and I don't need much encouragement ;-)

The cans in question, my favourites,

This is what you'll need for the dismantling,

First put a bit of tape around the ends in case of slips and drill the rivits out. Be carefull not to slip and watch for the band bending on the last couple of rivits. I used a 5mm bit. You don't have to go all the way through, just enough for the rivit to 'split'.

Some of the rivits will still have pieces in so tap them out with a little punch.

Put some sheet or an old jumper round the can. Put it on the floor and steady it with your foot. Pull the link pipe out by wiggling from side to side while pulling at the same time. If its stuck squirt some easit oil down and leave it for a minute.

This will leave you with this, the link pipe with the cat in it. I'll probably leave it in.

For the other end with the end cap you need to bash the baffle out. I use a hammer and just bash the can down on it till it pops out. Again if its stiff squirt a bit of jert round it and leave it for a munute.

That leaves you with this, the original baffle.

Next put the baffle on the floor and grind the end off. Do it right on the weld or ever so slightly towards the outlet. Be carefull not to slip and I used a tile blade.

Once you've gone all the way round you end up with this.

Just tap a small old wood chisel around the weld untill you can pull the end cap away from the small outer baffly thingy ;-]

Above is what your after when you've fettled with the grinder.

Next you need to clean all the scabby bits off that were left by the grinder. Get them all off or it will be a swine to get the end cap back down the sleeve later on.

So, put all your shit in the bin and save the link pipe, sleeve and end cap safely.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you do want to remove the cat I drill a load of little holes around it here,

Just keep going round and round untill the holes almost all meet, wiggling and a jiggling and making sure you don't go barmy and drill through the link pipe, best to have a quick measure up and put a bit of tape around the drill bit so you know what depth to stop at. When you've done that, twat the fecker out with a hammer and chisel. Clean all the bits off that have been left or they'll keep firing out the can when you've finished.

Righty O then I feel much better for doing all that. If me perfs here tomorrow I'll finish them off.

Second thoughts, its me end of year with the accountant tomorrow and if Mrs Nobs spent all the tax money on hairdo's and cider I'm fekked and will probably be in Strangeways.
